"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes."

-Marcel Proust

In my 15+ years as a mental health clinician, I have had the honor of accompanying my clients in their journey of self discovery. I’ve always resonated with the above quote by the author Marcel Proust in which “having new eyes” is emphasized as a means of enhancing our experiences. I believe that much of my work as a counselor involves helping people recognize patterns of thinking that may be clouding their view of the world. It is through this shift of perspective that we can find more meaning in our past experiences, including traumas and difficult relationships. We can then find solace in the ever-changing landscapes of life and shed the layers of our shadow selves to rest in our true nature as resilient beings.
